On October 17-18 six teams accepted different challenges issued by Free Press Unlimited during the hackathon “Hack the Media” in Amsterdam. Teams explored the challenges by talking with stakeholders en develop empathy for the problems. Through different forms of ideation they created hundreds of ideas, leading to sparkling concepts.
The challenges, like how to keep sources in warzones safe, usually were addressed by business thinking: “I heard your problem and I know how to solve it, because I have the experience”. Now teams learned how to apply Dutch Design Thinking, by acting from the insights gained by really understanding the end users. This led to a variety of solutions that have a much better match with the end users needs.
